It's 2 AM and I have a test in the morning. I'm not prepared. I should be studying or sleeping or doing just about anything else. Instead I'm sitting here with my thoughts jumping from one topic to another. I looked at pictures of my little niece. She's such a cutie. I read all the blogs on our recent election. I thought about people in general. I thought about Obama's policies. I understand why people voted for him, but I just can't agree with it. Did the common Democrat think of the implications of these miracle policies?
I'm not gonna get into the nitty gritty details of all these policies. I did come to a conclusion about people though. I used to think that people as a whole are pretty stupid. That may or may not be correct, but I'm pretty sure people are lazy and cowardly. They run from responsibility. And that's what made Obama so appealing. "No matter what I do I'm taken care of." That's it in a nutshell. I can destroy my body and it doesn't matter because we're getting government health care. Did I think that I'm paying taxes and so are the healthy people? Did I think that those taxes are paying for my health care? Did I think that I am using the hard earned money of the healthy people to pay for my irresponsible, unhealthy behavior? No, I just heard "Do what you want, it doesn't matter, because regardless of what you've done you get the same treatment."
Is that fair? No, that's not fair. Do I care? No, because the weight has been taken from my shoulders. Instead of being granted health plans and educational benefits granted on merit I'm getting them merely for the fact that I exist. In essence, the harder you work and the better you do the more you help sustain the ever-growing population of irresponsible Americans. And it's just gonna get worse. Taxes have to go up and they'll hit the hard-working Americans hardest because that's what the mass of irresponsible lazy people want. They see the rich guy and think, "Why does he have so much more than me? It isn't fair! Take it from him!" Now I admit that some people don't deserve their wealth and they waste it. Paris Hilton is a prime example. But most rich people are rich because they worked themselves to death to get there. And now they'll be penalized for success. "Oh, you did great! You have a ton of money! Let me redistribute that now. This man is extremely obese and his lungs are failing from a lifetime of smoking and eating fast food. Not to mention he dropped out of high school and his welfare check just can't sustain him anymore. So let me take this from you and give it to him."
That's what it's come to. The people have discovered that they can vote themselves money and vote themselves free of responsibility. Will we wake up before it's too late? I don't know. But hey, I don't have a job right now. I'm in debt and going to school. I couldn't find that Boardwalk piece in the McDonald's Monopoly game. Maybe I'll get something out of this...
I wrote this very late and it's not well put together. As I said in the title, my thoughts were wandering and I just typed them out. But that's what a blog is for I guess.

Oh this one made me sad. Except the part about Adelyn being cute. Really though, the future is scary. How'd the test go by the way?
"The day the people realize that they can vote themselves money, then is the day that democracy dies."
I don't know you, I found your blog randomly through a comment you made on another blog, actually, and I wanted to address it (how's that for a run on sentence)
"I'm right with you when it comes to Obama. I know there's not enough common sense in our country to see that he's nuts, but just maybe there's enough racism left to keep him out of office."
I have no idea if you are kidding. So I'll keep it short. Why on earth would you ever support racism, or racists? Is that something your Bishop would be proud to hear you write, or your Mission President? I don't think so. I would be really saddened to actually think you truly believed that. And if you do, way to go on continuing the stereotype that the LDS Church and its members dislike blacks.
Best,
Katie

Katie, I appreciate your passion against racism. Jacob is not racist. One of his good friends from his high school football team is African American. Jacob sometimes says things for shock value. He has been taught that all races are equal in the sight of God, and I have never seen him act in a way to dishonor that knowledge.
I never said I support racism. I said the racists might help keep him out of office. I was actually naive enough in high school to think racism was dead. We all just hung out together. It wasn't until later that I saw it's still out there.
Jacob just jokes a lot.
