I don't often write two posts in the same week, much less in the same day, but something came to my attention just now and my last post was rather short and was merely an attempt to get people to leave comments on my posts so that I feel loved. Anyway, many of you know my older sister Rebekah. Beautiful, talented, smart, headstrong. These are all accurate descriptions of Rebekah. She has a talent that I've never understood and never been able to duplicate. Rebekah will get an idea and decide it needs to happen. She'll tell everyone it's happening. And, sure enough! It happens! Every time! I don't know of any failures. When she lived in King Henry she'd decide it was time for volleyball or football or soccer and next thing you knew there were 40 people outside playing. She decided to go to college and she graduated, so she decided to go on a mission and got to go to Italy, and then decided to be a lawyer and graduated law school. On a whim. Now she doesn't really like being a lawyer, so who knows what's in store for Rebekah. Maybe med school? The presidency?
But it's not just things like this. Oh no. She decided to have a big dinner commemorating her passing the bar exam. So she tells everyone to go to such and such place at such and such a time. And you know what? Everybody came! Her self-congratulatory dinner came about. This week she has decided is her birthday week. One day isn't quite good enough for Rebekah. This is her week with perhaps an honorable mention thrown in for her twin brother. She wants several things to happen and she just might get away with it all. I will be watching from the shadows as it all unfolds.
Why can I not do this? I have no idea. I tried it this week. I told everyone that we were going to the hot springs on Saturday night. I thought for awhile that it might work. Lots of people said they'd come, but one after another bailed until there were five who set out. Two turned back around Spanish Fork and then there were only three of us. We failed to arrive at the hot springs due to my very unfortunate arrest. That was perhaps the most dismal failure in the history of planned activities. I think I'll leave it all to Rebekah from now on. Rebekah, can you plan a trip to the hot springs?

I'm very flattered. i don't know what to tell you about the hot springs... that is pretty sad. It's nice to see someone thinks this stuff though, because most of what I remember are my failures. I would list them, but that would detract from my glory in this post and we can't have that...
also, i'd like to list my favorite headstrong event. you weren't there, but a bunch of us were in New York and we got stranded in jersey at six flags and the bus wasn't going to make it back in time to see phantom. remember that i love phantom. so instead of sitting under the tree with everyone else, dave hart and i solicited exiting members of the park for a ride home. i found us a ride with 2 girls and a volvo. we must have packed about 8 or 9 of us into that car, and we hitchhiked back to the city in time (almost perfectly) for phantom. it was beautifully executed.
Remember when she decided that I should marry Celeste (who I had been wanting to date for 2 years) and a few months later I married Celeste?
I do believe she had the same success with her brother Jared... she said that they would get married & then they did.
Though I could list numerous Rebekah successes, I'd rather tell the story of the one and only failure I can think of: one morning Chris & Rebekah & I were driving to school and right before we pull in the parking lot Rebekah says, "Let's go to Vegas. I really think we should go." Looking back on it- I don't even think I batted an eyelash before I said, "OK! Let's go." I have never missed a nursing class EVER, but for some reason, it didn't really seem like that big of a deal- she didn't even have to do any convincing. Chris, however, was driving & therefore the one that actually needed to be persuaded by Rebekah's amazing charm... and it didn't work. He drove to school and parked. And we didn't go to Vegas. But that's the only time I can ever remember things not going the way she decided they would go.
I'm posting here mostly to be funny since Rebekah was dying for me to post a comment on her blog. In response to what Rebekah will do next, we all know she is an expensive girl. She needs to be in the money and therefore should go into sales. Why? I quote a friend, "Rebekah could sell poo." She could make bank selling anything! I also want to say there have been very few times I have not done things Rebekah tells me to do. Like when we are around people she wants to impress and tells me not to say anything.
