LOST

Ok, if you haven't seen the finale then don't read this post.

Last year I watch the first 5 seasons of LOST in a matter of weeks. I watched this season and I greatly enjoyed the show. That said, I have a few problems with the way it ended.

1. Unanswered questions
A. Where and when did this whole guardian thing start? When after becoming guardian do they get their powers? How do they learn to use these mystical powers?
B. What happened to Jack's dad's body? The smoke monster dude leaves the body and just copies it. And while we're on that, why can't he change from Locke's face? He changed a whole bunch of times.
C. What happened to the Dharma initiative? I mean, their people were wiped out and yet they still continued to drop supplies. They never went to find out what happened. They just gave up. What's the deal?
D. They made a big deal at the beginning about Walt being special and weird. Then they just wrote him out. What was the big deal about Walt?
E. Why did pregnant women always die? Was it always like that or was it like that after something happened like the Dharma incident?
F. Libby's story. Why was she in a mental hospital?
G. What was the light anyway? The source of life for the world? What exactly was so special about the light and the island? I know they're special, but why?!
H. Remember the Dharma observation post where they were supposed to write everything down in a log book and send it through a tube? Remember how they find all those tubes sitting somewhere? What's the deal with that?

That's just a few of the remaining questions that I thought of right now. If I rewatch the show I'm sure I'll come up with a lot more.

2. Pointless Actions
A. I thought the nuclear bomb thing made this like alternate world where the island didn't exist and so their lives were different and through Desmond they were all gonna remember and it would somehow tie the two worlds together and they'd all live happily ever after or something. I don't know. Since it turns out they were just dead, which is kind of dumb especially after watching the movie Passengers, then what was the purpose of setting of the nuclear bomb? It didn't do anything! They made this huge deal and they were back in the 70s specifically for this and it didn't bloody do anything! Why the bomb?!
B. Charlie found out it wasn't Penny's boat. He died for that. And so what? What did we gain from that information? Nothing different happened. Everyone still got killed off. They still went with the boat people. And Desmond said Claire would get on the helicopter if Charlie did that. Well, she never did.
C. I can't remember if they had a reason to move the island. I totally forget. But if not, then why'd it happen?
D. Remember the couple who killed each other over diamonds and got buried alive? What was the point of that episode?

3. Leading us on. You know, I like a good mystery, but can't you at least give us an answer every once in awhile. I went through 6 seasons just getting more and more questions with barely ever being tossed a tiny morsel which just opened up a bigger question.

That's all I got right now. Again, I enjoyed the series. I'll need to watch it all through from 1 to 6 just to make sure all my complaints are justified. It was original and I never knew what was coming which is very different from every other show or movie I see. I can always see a mile away what's about to happen. It had a good story and good characters. If you agree or disagree on any point please feel free to let me know what and why.

I have thankfully avoided that show almost completely. I will therefore avoid a complete reading of your analyses and simply say that the best way to end LOST would be a one minute episode where one of the cast members wakes up on the plane, and looks intensly at another main cast member who returns a confused and annoyed glance at the stranger giving them a focused stare. It was all a silly dream and all the people searching for meaning in the story have been duped.

It was original, it had an intriguing plot with interesting characters, and it wasn't dumbed down for the Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy crowd. That's why I liked it. But I knew they would never answer everything, so I wasn't disappointed with the ending.
